HVAC plant can become a noise-control issue for commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments when rooftop chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, or condensing units affect nearby receivers. A reliable enclosure discussion should start with the equipment sound data, receiver position, airflow requirements, heat rejection path, service zones, and the local compliance target.
HEMU Acoustics HVAC Acoustic Enclosures are reviewed for new-build plant rooms and retrofit applications. The fundamental design challenge for HVAC enclosures differs from compressor or pump enclosures: HVAC equipment may require large volumes of airflow for heat rejection. An enclosure that restricts airflow can increase condensing pressure, reduce efficiency, or trigger equipment shutdowns. The design review should begin with the equipment manufacturer's airflow and service requirements, then work toward the quietest practical enclosure route.
The enclosure may use acoustic louvres, lined intake or exhaust paths, access doors, removable panels, flexible connections, anti-vibration details, and drainage or outdoor-exposure details according to the project. Exact insertion loss, panel build-up, weather rating, structural code basis, and test method should be confirmed from supplier documents or project-specific engineering evidence before order.
For rooftop applications, wind exposure, snow exposure, drainage, corrosion protection, lifting access, roof loading, and maintenance clearance should be checked against site requirements. Rooftop projects should define wind exposure, snow exposure, roof loading, drainage, corrosion protection, lifting route, and maintenance clearance before the frame, panel format, and fixing method are selected.
Full Maintenance Access on All Sides
Full-height acoustic hinged access doors on all four sides of the enclosure. Door openings sized to equipment manufacturer's maintenance zone requirements. Where equipment requires crane access (chiller tube pull), removable roof panel sections are provided with mechanical lifting provisions.
Anti-Vibration Isolation System
Anti-vibration mounts, flexible connections, and penetration details should be reviewed when the equipment or connected ductwork, pipework, or refrigerant lines can transfer structure-borne noise into the enclosure or building.
Retrofit and New-Build Configurations
Modular panel system enables enclosures to be assembled around existing equipment without crane lifts. Panel dimensions are coordinated with the equipment footprint during design. All panels fit through a standard door opening (900 × 2100 mm) for access-restricted plant rooms.
